I have been fishing in Ontario, Canada 7 different times. Each time was it's own success in many ways. Before my grandfather died, he had probably gone up to Canada either fishing or Hunting over 50 years. Sometimes twice a year. Most people go fishing for walleye, but I went for the big pikes. The biggest pike I caught was 34.5" long. It probably weighted 8-9 pounds. Not a huge fish, but not bad for only fishing for a week. Typically the people that would go was, me and my dad - Ray Jr., my uncle Mike and his son Corey, my uncle Pat, my Grandfather - Ray Sr. and my second cousins Brad and Jeff and Jeff's son Trevor. I haven't been up there for over 20 years, so that is the lineup when I last went. The time I caught the bike pike I was using a sucker rig. It is basically 3 hooks that stick into a huge sucker attached to a large bobber. You wait for the bobber to go down for a full minute and then you reel in the slack line and then you set the hook. To catch a walleye you would take a big night crawler and hook it onto a 30lb. test line leader. When you feel a tap tap on the line you opened the bail on your rod and count to 30 - reel in the slack line and then you would set the hook. 

I have to be honest - Canada is a wild place. It isn't uncommon that you sea a Bald Eagle flying around or a Moose swimming around the lake. Where we go my Grandpa shot a black bear along a moose track. I caught a small Walleye once and it swallowed the hook. I cut the line and threw it behind the boat back in the water. No kidding a Bald Eagle flew down and picked it up with its big talons and took it to its pirch. I have a ton of memories like this. Maybe one day I'll go back, hard to say when though.
